"Drive Out Bullying" Returns in October

October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month and The Bridge Teen Center will be hosting our annual Drive Out Bullying campaign all month long for the third consecutive year. The Bridge proactively combats bullying on a daily basis by ENGAGING, CONNECTING and EMPOWERING students in 7th-12th grade in a safe and welcoming environment. Here's how you can get involved in this important local initiative:

Families, businesses and individuals are encouraged to volunteer time at The Bridge Thrift Store throughout the month of October. Groups are especially encouraged to participate (ages 10+ only please). Volunteers will sort clothing, stock merchandise, and prepare merchandise for sale. One group of 6 volunteers will generate over $1,350 in merchandise in a 3-hour period...that provides access to The Bridge Teen Center to more than 5 students for one full year! Volunteers will receive special "Drive Out Bullying" t-shirts while supplies last (see this year's t-shirt pictured below). Interested parties should contact Amber Holup at 708.532.0500.

Group Sign-Up Sheet (Fillable PDF required for ALL GROUPS)

Volunteer Application (required for adults NOT PART OF GROUP)

The Bridge Thrift Store is always in need of donated clothing, household items, tools, toys, furniture and other goods that can be sold to benefit The Bridge Teen Center. In October, every Saturday is designated as a special "Drop Off Saturday". If you bring in donations, we'll give you one "Drive Out Bullying" t-shirt while supplies last (see this year's t-shirt pictured below).

Donations can be dropped off during regular store hours. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00-4:00 and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00-7:00. Items not accepted include baby furniture of any type, mattresses, tube televisions, most entertainment centers, and merchandise that is badly damaged, dirty or not in overall good sellable condition.

Families, businesses and individuals are encouraged to consider hosting a donation drive during the month of October to collect items that can be sold at The Bridge Thrift Store. Large volume donations may be picked up, but must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. Items can also be dropped off during regular store hours (see above). Tools to help you market and organize your donation drive can be found below. We do ask that you contact Amber Holup at 708.532.0500 if you plan to host or drive or have questions about your donation drive.
