Start out by taste-testing some of the lesser known citrus fruits, like the blood orange, ugli fruit, and tangerine. Work in groups to prepare a lemon spread that you’ll use for sweet and tangy lemon meringue mini pies. Next, try your hand at assembling Asian chicken salad cups tossed in a citrus vinaigrette dressing. Make recipes with a range of citrus fruits, just as nature intended.

Eating fruits and veggies that are in season helps you eat healthier, more nutritious and flavorful food. Boosting heart health, increasing brain function, and strengthening the body’s immunity are among the amazing qualities of citrus fruits. Chef Karla is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and loves making creative recipes in the kitchen with Bridge students, so come join us.

Out of respect to our volunteers, please be sure you can attend the programs you sign up for. Confirmation calls or text messages are made 48-72 hours prior to every program. If you do not respond to our confirmation call within 24 hours of the program, a student on the waiting list will fill your spot. If a student is a "no show" for 2 or more programs, they will be automatically placed on the waiting list for other programs they have signed up for during that semester. 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations.
