VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Under the direct leadership of the Executive Director, the Volunteer Coordinator will provide leadership in the recruitment, training, retention, coordination, and supervision of volunteers and interns for The Bridge Teen Center. This is a part-time hourly position working 24 hours/week.

Candidates must possess a dress in human resources, communication, youthwork or relevant work or volunteer experience in a related field. In addition, 2-3 years post-graduation volunteer or work experience in a related field is preferred. We are seeking a creative individual with a heart for ministry and local missions.

WILL SERVE AS THE LEAD ON:

  1. Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, placing, evaluating and scheduling non-program volunteers and interns for The Bridge Teen Center.
  2. Work with the Executive Director and Program Team in developing ongoing training, education and team-building for volunteers and interns for The Bridge Teen Center.
  3. Process online volunteer applications in a timely manner and collaborate with The Bridge Thrift Store Volunteer Coordinator in a timely manner (communicating clearly where there may be overlap).
  4. Recruit interns and manager the internship program, including building relationships with relevant departments at local colleges and leading orientation and the initial training.
  5. Responsible for all aspects of onboarding interns; creating schedules, setting up task lists, managing weekly flow.
  6. Update and maintain weekly internal shift schedule for all volunteers and interns.
  7. Maintain, execute, and seek ways to enhance the volunteer recruitment and retention plans.
  8. Build ongoing relationships with volunteers and interns through face-to-face interaction "on the floor".
  9. Maintain postings with colleges and online volunteer recruitment outlets.
  10. Identify and represent The Bridge at Volunteer Fairs and other relevant offsite recruitment events.
  11. Maintain volunteer records in database and make sure automated hour tracking and reports are functioning properly.
  12. Co-lead the Volunteer Appreciation efforts and plan April Volunteer Appreciation Month initiatives (with the Thrift Store Volunteer Coordinator).
  13. Take the lead on sending volunteers birthday cards and other relational correspondence.
  14. Provide appreciation, feedback and encouragement to non-program volunteers (per the volunteer retention plan).
  15. Maintain clean, well-organized and inviting volunteer station.
  16. Communicate clearly with program team to address volunteer and intern needs and issues in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES AS A TEAM MEMBER INCLUDE:

  1. Regularly pray for the organization, our leadership, and those we serve.
  2. In partnership with the marketing team and Thrift Store Volunteer Coordinator, provide content for The Bridge Teen Center's ongoing Volunteer Newsletter (3 e-blast a year).
  3. Represent The Bridge at offsite outreach events, fundraisers, or other events as assigned by the Founders.
  4. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

MUST POSSESS:

  1. Passion for the mission of The Bridge Teen Center and a heart for teenagers.
  2. Strong organizational, leadership and time management skills.
  3. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  4. Working knowledge of MS Office products, Gmail, and willingness to learn cloud-based database.
  5. Ability to be a forward thinker, think outside the box, and not rest in routine.

COMPENSATION AND HOURS:

Very competitive hourly compensation based on experience. Hours will be required on Mondays, however, can be modified to balance staff meetings, group training sessions, interviews, and connection with volunteers during student hours. This is a great position for someone looking for a high impact role within a ministry that also offers a great balance of personal and professional time.
