Donation Receiver (Part-Time)

The Bridge Thrift Store is hiring a part-time Receiver to assist with the processing and organization of donated goods. This position reports to the Store Operator, and receives daily direction from Store Leads. Great role for a student who has a flexible school schedule, or someone looking for supplemental income.

BACKGROUND:

The Bridge Thrift Store is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide financial support for the free programs at The Bridge Teen Center and to host ongoing job readiness training opportunities for teens. The flagship store opened in Orland Park in 2016, and a second store will be opening in Frankfort in the Fall of 2025. The Bridge Thrift Store has won multiple “Best Thrift Store” awards, and prides itself on being an innovator in the thrift/resale space.

The new store location in Frankfort, Bridge Thrift Home & Restoration, will continue to redefine the thrifting experience with elements never before seen in other thrift store operations. The new store will include the Taking Root Plant Shop, a Pop-Up Shop for local artisans and makers, and a heavy focus on home goods and furniture. Most importantly, the new store will also house a first-of-its-kind Job Readiness and Leadership Training Room for students.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Assists with receiving and organizing daily donations.
  • Organizes donation holding areas.
  • Orchestrates "back of house" donation processing.
  • Assists with daily opening and shut down procedures.
  • Provides support with moving furniture that is sold or donated.

MUST POSSESS:

  • Must have the ability to lift 30 lbs. or more, including some furniture.
  • Must be hard-working and committed to completing jobs with excellence.
  • Strong personal integrity and communication skills are required.
  • Outgoing personality and outwardly-focused mentality; Solid people skills.
  • Ability to prioritize schedule, tasks and projects and meet necessary deadlines.

  • This position must be available to work 5-15 hours a week.
  • This position starts at $13 per hour for those under 18 and $15 per hour for those 18 and over, plus merchandise discounts.
