Be a gardener all year round! Winter “sowing” is the process of planting seeds in containers and keeping them outside during the winter. Over these cold months, the containers protect the seeds from animals and harsh weather. The seeds germinate and (if nature cooperates) emerge when spring hits. Plant organic seeds in milk jugs. Hardy annuals (alyssum, leeks, cilantro) and perennials (Coreopsis, oregano, and thyme are a few) are likely to do well in the winter. Join us in the expectant adventure of gardening!

Thank you to Bettenhausen Auto for sponsoring programs in the Life Skills Workshop this semester. Thank you also to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois for sponsoring “On Mission Month” programs in February.

Important Attendance Policy:

Out of respect to our volunteers, please be sure you can attend the programs you sign up for. Confirmation calls or text messages are made 48-72 hours prior to every program. If you do not respond to our confirmation call within 24 hours of the program, a student on the waiting list will fill your spot. If a student is a "no show" for 2 or more programs, they will be automatically placed on the waiting list for other programs they have signed up for during that semester. 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations.
