Fun science lesson, anyone? It’s about electricity, sunlight, and mechanics. Our friends at IBEW-NECA Technical Institute are giving you a unique opportunity. You’ll build electrical voltages from photovoltaic modules, learn how energy storage works, and be a part of the mechanical assembly of an entire photovoltaic system.
Let’s break this down. Photovoltaics is known as the conversion of light into electricity using semi-conducting materials. Whenever you see solar panels on the roofs of homes, photovoltaic modules are allowing electricity to fuel because of the sunlight hitting those solar panels. Sign up now!
*This is an offsite program. Students will travel in The Bridge Bus to IBEW-NECA Technical Institute, located at 6201 W. 115th Street in Alsip. Must have "Permission to Transport" indicated on Student Membership Application.
Important Attendance Policy:
Out of respect to our volunteers, please be sure you can attend the programs you sign up for. Confirmation calls or text messages are made 48-72 hours prior to every program. If you do not respond to our confirmation call within 24 hours of the program, a student on the waiting list will fill your spot. If a student is a "no show" for 2 or more programs, they will be automatically placed on the waiting list for other programs they have signed up for during that semester. 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations.
