Have you ever been on a real working farm? Work side-by-side with the Locavore team, gaining real-life experience in regenerative agriculture, culinary arts, animal husbandry (that’s fancy talk for taking care of animals), and land restoration. There are lots of different types of farms, but each one is a labor of love for the people who manage it. They grow food from scratch, take care of animals, manage the land, build lots of things by hand, and so much more! Farm life requires skills, talents, and abilities that are developed over time. Wanna try out some of these skills and see if you could envision yourself as a farmer? If you’re up for a challenge, sign up now! Please wear modest, but breathable clothing. Must wear socks and close-toed shoes. This is a super program, which means the duration is longer than usual. The Bridge will provide water and a snack for each student.

IMPORTANT: Students will travel in The Bridge Bus to Locavore Farm located at 11588 N. 17500E Road in Grant Park. Must have "Permission to Transport" indicated on Student Membership Application.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Students should eat a hearty lunch before attending this program, but water and snacks will be provided by The Bridge for each student. It’s also recommended that each student wears sunscreen and a bandana or cap. The Bridge will also provide sunscreen for those who need it.

All Community Connections programs are sponsored in part by Fox College.

Important Attendance Policy:

Out of respect to our volunteers, please be sure you can attend the programs you sign up for. Confirmation calls or text messages are made 48-72 hours prior to every program. If you do not respond to our confirmation call within 24 hours of the program, a student on the waiting list will fill your spot. If a student is a "no show" for 2 or more programs, they will be automatically placed on the waiting list for other programs they have signed up for during that semester. 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations.
