Give Beyond a Check

There are many meaningful ways to support The Bridge Teen Center beyond a traditional cash donation. Gifts of appreciated stock, IRA distributions, and legacy gifts can provide valuable support for local teens and families while potentially offering tax advantages to you.

Because every financial situation is different, we encourage you to speak with your financial or tax advisor before making a gift. If you do not have an advisor, we have trusted local professional available for a no-obligation conversation.

Donating Stock

Donating appreciated stocks can be a powerful way to support the mission of The Bridge Teen Center while minimizing capital gains taxes. By giving from an investment you’ve grown, you may avoid capital gains taxes and still receive a charitable deduction for the full value of the gift. We recommend connecting with your financial or tax advisor to understand how this applies to your personal situation, including establishing a Donor Advised Fund for giving in life and as part of a legacy plan. If you do not have a financial advisor, please reach out to one of these trusted local contacts:

Trevor Heide or Ryan Penders, RBC | 708.364.2025 |  [email protected][email protected]

If you plan to give stock, please email  [email protected] with the stock name and number of shares so we can provide the additional details necessary to make your donation.

IRA Distributions

If you are over 70-1/2 years old, then you may consider donating through a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). A QCD allows you to distribute directly from your IRA to The Bridge Teen Center and the amount is not reported as taxable income or a charitable deduction on your tax return.

This amount can be counted toward the IRA’s annual required minimum distribution (RMD). Consult with your financial and/or tax advisor to analyze your situation. If you do not have a financial advisor, please reach out to one of these trusted local contacts:
