Recycle food scraps into rich soil for an organic garden with a little help from our wiggly friends. Worms eat the food scraps and newspaper which become compost as they pass through the worm’s body. Sounds gross or really awesome? Compost does not smell so you can keep it indoors in a bin all winter until you are ready to plant your garden in spring. The folks at University of Illinois Extension will demonstrate making a composting bin and allow you to observe worms through microscopes. They’ll also raffle off the composting bin to one lucky student!
Thank you to Bettenhausen Auto for sponsoring programs in the Life Skills Workshop this semester.
Important Attendance Policy:
Out of respect to our volunteers, please be sure you can attend the programs you sign up for. Confirmation calls or text messages are made 48-72 hours prior to every program. If you do not respond to our confirmation call within 24 hours of the program, a student on the waiting list will fill your spot. If a student is a "no show" for 2 or more programs, they will be automatically placed on the waiting list for other programs they have signed up for during that semester. 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations.
