PROJECT GIVE: UNDERSTANDING HOMELESSNESS w/ South Suburban PADS
Homelessness doesn’t just exist in the inner city. There are real people living on the streets in our own hometown, and there is something you can do about it. South Suburban PADS is a local social service agency that has served over 19,000 men, women and children by providing emergency shelters every night of the week. We’ll go to one of those locations to hear from a PADS staff member about the myths and facts of homelessness. We'll also pack sock bundles for their future guests. Find out what suburban homelessness can look like and be an active part of our community by providing real help! Community service hours given.
OFFSITE PROGRAM: Students will travel in The Bridge Bus to an offsite location. They will be going to 4955 158th Street in Oak Forest. Must have ‘Permission to Transport’ indicated on Student Membership Application.
Important Attendance Policy:
Out of respect to our volunteers, please be sure you can attend the programs you sign up for. Confirmation calls or text messages are made 48-72 hours prior to every program. If you do not respond to our confirmation call within 24 hours of the program, a student on the waiting list will fill your spot. If a student is a "no show" for 2 or more programs, they will be automatically placed on the waiting list for other programs they have signed up for during that semester. 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations.
