This program is part of National Volunteer Week, a week of service celebrated all across the country! Give back to your community by assisting individuals with disabilities, combating poverty and homelessness, and caring for animals.
Chicago’s homeless population needs your help. You may feel like you live a long way away from the city, but there are real people living on the streets in our own hometown, and there is something you can do about it. All God’s People is a local non-profit that collects and organizes donated items to be given to the homeless population of Chicago. They go downtown once a month to offer these items with respect and love for the people, but they need people like us to get the donated items organized. We’ll walk a few blocks away from The Bridge to their warehouse to spend a couple hours sorting coats, sleeping bags, toiletries, and other items. You can make a difference. Come help! Community service hours will be given.
*For this program students will travel in The Bridge Bus to an offsite location. They will be going to 15554 S. 70th Court in Orland Park. Must have "Permission to Transport" indicated on Student Membership Application (check your Student Portal to make sure).
Important Attendance Policy:
Out of respect to our volunteers, please be sure you can attend the programs you sign up for. Confirmation calls are made 48-72 hours prior to every program. If you do not respond to our confirmation call within 24 hours of the program, a student on the waiting list will fill your spot. If a student is a "no show" for 2 or more programs, they will be automatically placed on the waiting list for other programs they have signed up for during that semester. 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations.
